Running is a simple sport. It does not require much equipment. However, since I'm not an African or some barefoot kook, I wear shoes.
I love shoes. Shoes are an obsession of mine. I'm on ebay every day, several times a day, looking for bargains on shoes. The most I've ever spent on a pair of running shoes is $60. I did this twice; once for some Asics online at Finish Line, and once for Nikes from the Employee Store in Oregon. That's the highest I'll go.
My current workhorse shoe is the Fila Flow Providence III. I got these on ebay for about $30. They remind me a bit of Pearl Izumi's in the forefoot, as it fits like a slipper. I like these shoes, and they are comfortable. The only downside to these is the concave heel, which is a magnet for rocks. I have had to remove rocks from these shoes quite a bit.
I have other shoes in the closet:
-Reebok Trinity KFS
-Nike Max Moto 5's (my favorite shoe)
-Asics 2110
-another pair of Filas (different model, but Flow series)
Right now, the Nike's are my 'race day' shoe and the second shoe in rotation. I figure I'll burn out the 'bargain' shoes and keep my 'premium' shoes for racing.
